Re: macOS Catalina versus fusion 8

Hi,

First let me tell you that I don't work for VMware, I'm here to help out as a volunteer in my free time.

If you keep writing in that style I will probably pass on that. I do understand that things can be frustrating if they don't work.

With that out of the way...

File Import is not for opening virtual machines from previous versions of VMware Fusion.

File Import is for importing virtual machines from other virtualisation products such as Parallels.

Instead you should be using File -> Open, then navigate to the VM you want to open.

That will add your VM to the Library and you can run the VM.

Note that on boot your VM will be upgraded to Fusion version 11 and after that it won't open in older versions unless you downgrade the virtual hardware again.

If you don't want that.. make a backup.

PS: Your screenshot did not show a .vmx file. If there is no .vmx file in there then the VM cannot boot as it doesn't have the virtual hardware configured. It doesn't mean the file isn't there, but it -at least- isn't in your screenshot. Even if there's no .vmx file there are ways to get passed that too.
